Warm, witty and undeniably full of character, The Colac Hotel is a venue with personality to spare, and the lighting design had to match.
Created in collaboration with Interior Designer Ali McKay, Architect Carumag and builder Dominion Homes, the lighting scheme (designed by our technical lighting designer Brendan Gillespie) uses Casambi throughout to give flexible, intuitive control across the entire space.
Inside, technical lighting is delivered with precision and atmosphere using Unios Ion S spotlights and Ion R recessed downlights, while Ion S Framers highlight artwork and key architectural moments. Outside, thoughtfully placed Unios Athena bollards mark the entry and support safety in the carpark, complemented by colour-tunable street lights that bathe the outdoor areas in warm, welcoming light.
For standout feature elements, the fit-out brings in globally sourced statement pieces: dynamic, expressive fittings from New York-based RBW, striking Spanish designs from Arkos, and refined sculptural forms from Vibia, each adding texture, personality and depth to the experience.
The result? A hospitality space that feels warm, inviting and endlessly engaging, perfectly reflecting the spirit of The Colac.
