On the fringe of Adelaide’s CBD, North Adelaide is an envious suburb that is rich with beautiful historic buildings, many on which have good size allotments and gorgeous mature trees. For most young professionals entering into this area,  a contemporary home is not a common find, but for these clients the opportunity to build at the rear of an established home was a dream come true.

With a clear vision of what their design objectives were the clients engaged Scott Salisbury Homes to design and build a stunning architectural abode. Capturing plenty of natural light via an internal courtyard and high surrounding windows, the simple clean lines and colour palette leant itself to very minimalist lighting that accentuated this modern interior.

What really makes an impact when the sun goes down is the way our lighting makes this home feel. Without a single downlight on the ceiling in the main living space, our concealed Eclipse LED Strip Lighting reflects off the ceiling to illuminate the entire room. Our minimalist FX Pendant in black gives practical task lighting over the bench with the magic of our darklighter fixtures that sit within and offer no visible light source. Eclipse LED strip also give consistent practical light across the back bench, with dimming control to offer true flexibility.

Our Tourmaline wall lights are a firm favourite and have been utilised here to graze light against the walls in the living room and down the hallways. The feature Heat Pendant over the table has been lovingly nick named "the sponge” and compliments perfectly the textural detailing of the grey brickwork selected for the hallways. Downlights do have their place, and in this house we’ve positioned them accordingly in the Bathroom and Bedrooms to provide a functional purpose, but many people overlook other ways of lighting an area as they are uneducated to the possibilities.

We hope this home inspires you to look outside the box and consider lighting as an important element to truely making your home feel like home. Our  staff are here to help with lighting design concepts and are passionate about getting it right for your lifestyle.
