Here are three of our favourite ways to bring your outdoor spaces to life.

1. Keep it Simple. Keep it Festoon.

Sometimes the best solution is also the simplest.

Festoon lighting is a timeless choice for patios and alfresco areas. It spreads a warm, welcoming glow across larger spaces while remaining budget-friendly and easy to install.

Our festoon lights feature Golden Warm White (2700K) globes, delivering that cozy, relaxed atmosphere perfect for outdoor entertaining. If you want effortless ambience without overcomplicating the design, festoons are a classic for a reason.

Our pick:
Florence Festoon Lighting, a client favourite available in black or white, offering excellent light quality at a great price point.

2. Downlights & Uplights

Marks Residence - Grieve Gillet Architects

Ambient lighting doesn’t need to feel flat or purely functional. Dusk-dimming downlights are one of our favourite features, gradually shifting from a crisp 3000K down to a warm and intimate 1800K when dimmed. The result is lighting that adapts with the evening to be  bright when you need it, soft and atmospheric when you don’t.

Prefer a cleaner ceiling? Uplighting is a game-changing alternative. By reflecting light upward, it creates a soft, even glow throughout the space without harsh shadows.

Everyone looks better in good lighting and uplighting definitely helps.

3. Layer, Layer, Layer

Melrose Park - Design Tech Studio - Art Department Creative

As we always say great lighting is layered lighting, and outdoor spaces are no exception.

Combining different light sources adds depth, warmth, and flexibility. Think wall lights, strip lighting, and portable lamps working together to create atmosphere while still supporting task areas like dining and cooking.

Bringing light closer to eye level also helps create that cozy, intimate feel.

Our layered lighting favourites:

From soft overhead glows to subtle wall washes, thoughtful lighting has the power to transform patios and alfresco areas into intimate retreats or vibrant entertaining hubs that balances architecture, landscape, and lifestyle ✨
